There are ceiling fans designed especially for children, which have designs made to appeal to the imaginations and interests of young ones. There is a wide selection of children’s ceiling fans from many different manufacturers. Some fans have themes like sports, rockets, or airplanes. Other ceiling fans have translucent designs or other unique features. Children’s ceiling fans come in a variety of sizes, from petite to large.

Controlling the room temperature by using air conditioners is no longer a luxury with the prices of split and window air-conditioners crashing down. Still many of us are using the ceiling fans to create a breeze to bring down the temperature of the room.
Ceiling fans with their 120 years of history saw some revolutionary changes in the design and style and the latest being the ceiling fan with a remote control which has buttons to turn the fan off or on, regulate the speed or reverse the wind flow.

The first artificial wind-chill methods as used by animals in nature was duplicated by royalty and wealthy persons of early Assyria and Egypt, who employed slaves or servants waving large leaves to cool them down on hot days. Many centuries later, in 1882, Diehl introduced his invention of the electric ceiling fan. His device was a bubble-blade adaptation of the well known belt driven fan with an in-built electric motor. By the end of the 1880s, the “Diehl Electric” was sweeping the country, and by the late 1920s, no self-respecting restaurant, drug store, ice cream shop, or elegant dining room, was without a ceiling fan as part of their decor and method of ventilation.

Most people in the United States would positively associate Westinghouse as one of the country’s original power company that also among the very first few who introduced ceiling fans. These fans are known and considered antiquated but very valuable and there are actually several ceiling fan manufacturers today who made replicas of the original models of the Westinghouse ceiling fans. However, due to the introduction of some innovative cooling systems, ceiling fans were rendered obsolete and the company, along with the few others were forced to stop production due to the decline in the demand.

Nowadays, the modest and unassuming ceiling fan that we know has certainly come a long way since its introduction a long way back during the industrial revolution. Creative industrial workers who spent long hours toiling away in the stifling conditions of the factories originally designed ceiling fans as the ultimate solution for a more efficient ventilation system. Today, ceiling fans still serve a similar function as they did a few decades back, that is in providing aeration and keeping them cool.

Foe many years now, ceiling fan manufacturers constantly offer us some really innovative features and modifications that would effectively ensure that their products will be able to survive, albeit the very stiff competition in the market. Many companies would not hesitate to use any marketing scheme at their disposal just to attract the interest and patronage of consumers. However, a keen observer would be able to specifically point out that although there are a rapid influx of products, only a few would last through the years. This is the challenge to both consumers and manufacturers, to ensure the staying power of the product for a great number of years.

Heated ceiling fans are useful in today’s homes. Like fans that are used on winter seasons, these make the room warmer. What makes these more efficient and more effective are the heaters in their systems – not only will these heated ceiling fans make use of the warm air in the room, it can also provide for more warm air.
